Sapporo Digital & Green Innovation Days 2026
Sapporo City and JETRO Hokkaido successfully co-hosted “Sapporo Digital & Green Innovation Days 2026” from January 27 to 29, a business matching event fostering innovation and sustainable growth.
We sincerely thank all participants for joining us as planned, despite the record-breaking heavy snow the day before the event. Focused on Semiconductors, Green Transformation (GX), Health Tech, and Agri-Food, we invited 9 foreign companies with advanced technologies to engage with 18 local entities, including companies, universities, and municipalities in Hokkaido.
[Program Highlights]
Day 1: Facility Tours and Networking
Open Innovation Tour: Visited the open innovation hub, Air Water Forest.
Specialized Tracks: Participants split into three specialized courses (Semiconductor/Energy, Food Tech, and Health Tech) in the afternoon to visit relevant local facilities.
Welcome Reception: Hosted an evening reception to foster networking among participants and local stakeholders.
Days 2 & 3: Business Matching and Collaboration
Business Matching Sessions: Held a total of 37 meetings with 18 local entities to explore potential collaborations.
All meetings were conducted entirely in English. Facilitated by thorough preliminary needs assessments and a deep understanding of the invited companies, the sessions led to lively discussions and concrete steps toward collaboration, including the signing of two NDAs.
Through this program, many participating companies expressed strong interest in Sapporo as a candidate for their expansion into Japan. Several invited companies are already continuing discussions for future collaboration and market entry in Sapporo and Hokkaido. STEP (Sapporo Transnational Expansion and Partnership) remains committed to providing ongoing support for their business establishment and success here.
