Exhibiting at productronica 2025 Munich
The City of Sapporo, in partnership with Hokkaido University, successfully exhibited at productronica 2025 in Munich, Germany, from November 18 to 21. Following a large-scale event in Singapore, this European hub for advanced electronics technology allowed us to present concrete activities and outcomes, leading to highly meaningful discussions that went beyond simple networking and resulted in actionable cooperation plans.
Our booth was staffed by City of Sapporo officials and Hokkaido University members, who engaged in proactive activities throughout the week, supported by local experts.
The event gathered over 1,400 exhibitors and more than 42,000 visitors, 88% of whom were industry professionals and key decision-makers.
We leveraged this opportunity through proactive booth visits, meetings with academic partners, and individual sessions arranged by our local partners. Crucially, we advanced concrete discussions on mutual cooperation with representatives from organizations like Start2 Group, Hight, and the Munich Innovation Ecosystem. This success was a direct result of attending with a clear objective: understanding “what the international market seeks” and “what Sapporo can offer.
Our participation also allowed us to witness the remarkable growth of companies supported through STEP (Sapporo Transnational Expansion and Partnership).
We reconnected with a supported semiconductor quantum technology firm whose rapid growth—nearly 100 employees in just one year—is truly impressive. We look forward to their development in Japan. Similarly, we deepened our local exchange with representatives from a semiconductor-related chemicals manufacturer also supported by STEP.
Based on the tangible outcomes and expanded network gained at productronica, Sapporo City will now finalize the schedule for its international co-creation activities for the coming year. We will continue to strengthen efforts to expand innovation technology originating from Sapporo globally, and to attract world-class technology and enterprises to the Sapporo region.
